Rachel and Kyle

The Powerhouse is a brilliant venue for a cocktail style wedding in Brisbane. It's tough for the photographer though, the low light really makes you work but you can't deny the atmosphere of the place. Combine that with the sensational food that only Brett's Wharf can deliver and you know your guests will remember your wedding.

Rachel and Kyle call Sydney home, so had quite a task in front of them organising everything from so far away. But both were very relaxed and breezed through what was a very family orientated day. They knew they would be surrounded by nieces and nephews so had the foresight to organise a magician to come in and keep all the kids entertained. It didn't take long until half the parents were in watching, he was fabulous and had the kids in awe as he made what were easily the best balloon characters I have ever seen.

The only hiccup was totally avoidable ... while Rachel waited to walk down the aisle an over zealous staff member of the Powerhouse felt the need to inform her we were not permitted to take any photos inside the building, but she took it in her stride and couldn't wait to stand side by side with Kyle.

Great celebration guys !

My poor neglected blog ...

My poor blog has been a little abandoned in recent months after the
house move. I still don't have a studio to work from but my now
famous dodgy pink bedroom is sufficing, for now anyway. If only my
little girl would let me paint it, but she's put dibs in on this room
and has made it known I'm taking too long to finish the studio !! So
here's a few older weddings.

Lorna and Jay

Wedding photographers are lucky enough to experience first-hand the amazing diversity in customs that lay within the different cultural backgrounds. Today the groom Jay is being tested by the bridesmaids. For Jay to be allowed inside to see Lorna, he first had to answer a number of questions about her. He needed to prove he knew her well - well enough to know her favourite foods, favourite music and a number of other little details. When he answered a question incorrectly he had to dance on the spot. The pressure then continued when he was made to author a poem on the spot and recite it to them. His persistence paid off, he eventually made it inside!

Lauren and Ben

Who said Rugby players can't be total gentlemen also?? Ben took Lauren's breath away with a brilliant surprise right at the end of the ceremony. Just as they turned to head back down the aisle, a band he secretly organised and then hid away up on the balcony kicked off with their rendition of the song "All you need is Love". It's the same song that was used in the church scene at the start of the movie "Love Actually".

In my 20 yrs of shooting weddings this was a first for me. Just sensational!!
